Kermit the Frog: I'm Not Dating Lady Gaga

When Lady Gaga rolled up to the MTV Video Music Awards, the world was agog at the identity of her high-profile date – America's Frog Next Door, Kermit the Frog.
After all, the movie and TV star, singer and former pollywog had long been linked romantically to frequent costar Miss Piggy. Had he gone from mild-mannered Muppet to amphibian Jon Gosselin?
Not at all, Kermit insists. He fesses up about his date with Lady Gaga (who called him, not vice versa) and his relationship with a certain pig, dispenses advice to Kanye West and hints at why you haven't seen him and Fozzie Bear out on the town together, in this special Q & A with PEOPLE.com.

PEOPLE: So how'd this date with Lady Gaga go down, exactly?
Kermit: Well, I wouldn't really call it a "date" – at least not if I don't want to end up as a coat for Miss Piggy. Y'see, I just gave Lady Gaga a ride to the VMAs, and when Lady Gaga left her credentials in the limo, I had to bring them to her. (On the off-chance security didn’t recognize her. Hey, it could happen.) Of course, after Lady Gaga and I were seen on the red carpet together, well … Miss Piggy got a little jealous. But I definitely did get a ride home – in the trunk!

So let's get down to brass tacks. Does this mean you and Miss Piggy have called it quits?
Miss Piggy and I have not called it quits, and that's because we do not have that kind of relationship. We are colleagues and close friends. Sometimes too close. Waaaay too close. We still work together all the time. In fact, in early December, you can catch us together singing with Andrea Bocelli on the Andrea Bocelli & David Foster: My Christmas, a new holiday special for PBS. Piggy was jealous I was going to sing with Andrea ... until she found out Andrea is a guy. And a handsome guy at that. Then, I got jealous!

How'd you and Lady Gaga get on away from the cameras? Is she a good kisser?
Lady Gaga is a wonderful person. In private, she is very down to earth … which is where I spend most of my time. As far as kissing Lady Gaga goes: she is a very good kisser, but it was not a romantic kiss. It was a kiss for good luck. Kissing a frog is good luck for the person giving the kiss – but bad luck for the frog if his pig finds out.

Your average guy would probably be creeped out by a woman who'd just been photographed wearing a dress made out of, well, him (or close relatives). Yet you didn't seem to have an issue with that Kermit dress she wore in Germany in July. What are your feelings about that outfit of hers?
Actually, no actual amphibians were harmed in the making of that frog coat. In fact, after she checked the coat, she gave those frogs the rest of the night off. As for what she was wearing to the VMAs – I was just happy it wasn't made from anyone I recognized.

If Lady Gaga hadn't asked you to the VMAs, who would you have liked to have gone with?
Taylor Swift. After years of working with Miss Piggy, I've gotten really good at not letting anyone else grab the mic.

Did you confront Kanye West after the Taylor Swift incident?
I didn't see Kanye after the incident, but I would have told him to do what he's been doing: apologize. It's not that easy being wrong, but if you own up to your mistake, you'll almost always be forgiven. There are exceptions, but I won’t mention her by name.

Are you and Lady Gaga going to be seeing each other again?
We don’t have anything planned, but I'm sure Lady Gaga and I will run into each other again soon. That is, unless Miss Piggy gets that restraining order against her.

Coincidentally enough, Lady Gaga was photographed wearing a black Marc Jacobs dress in September that Miss Piggy had been photographed wearing in August. Who do you think wore it better?
I have to say Miss Piggy. That isn't necessarily my answer, but since she's standing over my shoulder, it's what I have to say.

We haven't seen you hanging out with Fozzie Bear, Gonzo or the rest of the gang in a while. Should people be concerned that there's been a falling out? Will we see the Muppets ride again soon?

Kanye apologizes to Taylor Swift

Kanye West might not have stolen the show – but he did steal the microphone from Taylor Swift. After Taylor received the award for Best Female Video at the 2009 VMAs for her song “You Belong to Me”, the rapper stormed onstage, grabbed the mic from the country singer and protested in support of Beyoncé. “I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time," he said. A stunned Beyoncé invited Taylor onstage to have the acceptance speech she deserved, later on in the show. Kayne knew he was “in the wrong” by taking away her moment. He took to his blog to apologize: “I’m sooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans. She is very talented!” he posted. “I’m sincerely sorry.”

Desperate Housewives' Kathryn Joosten Has Lung Cancer

Kathryn Joosten, a two-time Emmy winner for her role as feisty neighbor Mrs. McCluskey on Desperate Housewives, has lung cancer – and she plans to do everything she can to fight it. "I've got a little hang-up here," Joosten tells PEOPLE exclusively of the diagnosis she received less than a week ago, "but we're going to handle it and move forward. I'm doing great." The actress, 69, who already won a bout with lung cancer in 2001, broke the news to her Housewives producers Monday morning as she expects her shooting schedule could be interrupted for treatment. "They're totally supportive," she says. "I said, 'If you want to put it in the story line, do it! Tell anybody you want, because the public's going to know.' "Two weeks ago, the actress – who also played Mrs. Landingham, the beloved secretary to Martin Sheen's President Bartlett on The West Wing – underwent her annual physical exam during which doctors discovered a spot on her lung. Tests will determine the type of lung cancer Joosten is suffering from and her course of treatment. "I felt like the legs had been pushed out from under me," Joosten says of receiving the news. "I completely did not expect it, and was devastated. I was crying for nearly five days straight."

Paula thinks Ellen will "b gr8" on American Idol

As Ellen DeGeneres was announced the new American Idol judge, many were uncertain what Paula Abdul thought about her replacement. While a concerned Ellen called in to Ryan Seacrest’s radio show saying, “I hope Paula’s okay with it,” the ex-judge had nothing but kind words for the comedian. Paula took to her Twitter page to congratulate Ellen on her new gig. “I think Ellen will b a gr8 judge on Idol," she tweeted. "She is wildly funny, talented and I wish her the best of luck!"

Goodbye Paula, hello Ellen

Ellen DeGeneres is joining the cast of one of her all-time favorite shows. "I have not missed one episode," says Ellen, after breaking the news that she's replacing Paula Abdul, who walked away from the show in August due to contract negotiations, as the fourth judge on American Idol. The daytime talk show host will be joining Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi for the ninth season of the hit Fox singing competition when it premieres in January 2010. "I've been dying to tell everyone," admitted Ellen. "It's just been so hard to keep it a secret. It is going to be so much fun," she added. So what made the network choose her? According to a statement released by Fox: "Ellen has been a fan of the show for many years, and her love of music and understanding of the American public will bring a unique human touch to our judging panel." But, don't worry — she's not leaving her talk show. "I'm going to have a day job and a night job," says Ellen.

But at Thursday's Toronto Film Festival premiere of her latest film, Broken Embraces, she finally set the record straight.

More proof she's not pregnant: She was photographed smoking Parliament cigarettes with pal Salma Hayek Wednesday at Hollywood's Chateau Marmont.

Christina Milian Is Pregnant!

Christina Milian is pregnant with her first child, Usmagazine.com has confirmed.
The singer, 27, wed music producer The-Dream, 27, on Sept. 4 at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. Us first reported their engagement two months ago.
"The pregnancy was a surprise, but they were getting married regardless," a source tells Us.
Milian has already been talking about children.
"Of course, I would love to have kids," she told Us earlier this summer at the premiere of Bring It On: Fight to the Finish in NYC. "I think that's some of the reasons why I do movies like this."
Even The-Dream (real name: Terius Hagert Youngdell Nash) -- who proposed to Milian with a six-carat sparkler from Ivanka Trump's jewelry line -- has been talking about a family.
"I love kids, and [Christina] loves kids probably more than I do," he told Us in July. "She'll make that time [to have a baby]. In the next couple of years, there'll be something around."
