Regis Philbin Brithday!
Regis Francis Xavier Philbin TV-talk show host, game-show host, singer, author, and TV personality, Regis Philbin became one of the most popular talk-show hosts in America and in Canada, especially. Growing up as an only child in The Bronx, New York, Philbin went to University of Notre Dame and got a degree in sociology. Later, he would serve the Navy and went through behind-the-scenes in radio and TV before going into broadcasting.
When moving to California, Philin got his own show on KGTV in San Diego called "That Regis Philbin Show" (1964).
It was then he got his first big break as Joey Bishop's sidekick on "The Joey Bishop Show" (1961). Bishop liked to tease Philbin. But the teasing stopped when Philbin walked off the stage on a live broadcast and stayed away for several days.
On the show, Cyndy Garvey was originally the co-host. However, when Philbin moved to New York City, they both paired up on "The Morning Show". But due to low ratings, Gravey then left once again and Philbin was then joined with Kathie Lee Gifford on the show and ratings improved and changed the name to "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee"(1989). Gifford left the show, which was called "Live with Regis" until a permanent replacement could be found.
During the search, Philbin won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host, his first only Daytime award. When Kelly Ripa was chosen the same year, the show was later changed to "Live with Regis and Kelly". The pairing became successful.
Besides being a successful TV host, Philbin was also a game show host on a short-lived game show called "The Neighbors" (1975), which part of the game is that a contestant, usually a woman, would have to find out which one of her neighbors is gossiping about her. He then hosted "Almost Anything Goes" (1975). Despite both shows were failures, Philbin then hosted "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" (1999/I), which became one of the most popular shows on TV before it was canceled in 2002 and came back with Meredith Vieira replacing Philbin. For his work on the show, he won his second Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Game Show Host.
Philbin then signed a contract for "Millionaire's" spin-off: "Who Wants to Be a Super Millionaire" (2004). But this time instead of one million dollars, it's 10 million. However, the show was canceled within four months. However, Philbin's game show career didn't end there. As of November 2005, Philbin hosted the revival of ABC's _"This Is Your Life" (2006)_. As of May 2006, the show is in development. Also, Philbin hosted the first season of "America's Got Talent" (2006), with Piers Morgan, Brandy Norwood and David Hasselhoff as the judges.Besides being a TV personality, Philbin is also an author who has written two books: "I'm Only One Man!" and "Who Wants To Be Me?". He is also a singer, in the style of a crooner such as Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin.
Happy Birthday Regis Philbin!!

Marlee Matlin Birthday!
Marlee became deaf at the age of 18 months due to a bout with Roseola Infantum. That didn't stop her, though, from acting in a children's theatre company at age 7; she was Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz." Her deafness never held her back.
Marlee studied Criminal Justice at Harper College in Palatine, Illinois, and maintained her passion for acting after graduating. While performing on stage throughout Chicago and the Midwest, Marlee attracted notice for her performance in a production of the Tony award-winning play "Children of a Lesser God" and was cast in the movie version, Children of a Lesser God (1986). Although this was her film debut, she won the Academy Award for Best Actress.
Her interest in the criminal justice field played a part in her on screen career; she portrayed an Assistant D.A. in the TV series "Reasonable Doubts" (1991), while off screen she married police officer Kevin Grandalski on August 29, 1993. Marlee was nominated for an Emmy award in 1994 for her performance as Laurie Bey in the "Picket Fences" (1992) episode "Dancing Bandit."
In 2007 Marlee participated in the series The L Word where he played the role of an artist Jodi Lerner
And also won this year she earned her star on the sidewalk of the stars in Hollywood
Happy Birthday Marlee Matlin!!

Jay Leno's new NBC show means less Jay, more silly young comics
Jay Leno is still tinkering with the format behind his new 10 p.m. talk show that premieres next month. But viewers should get ready for one change: There'll probably be less Jay than on "The Tonight Show."
Leno told reporters during a press conference in Burbank today that "The Jay Leno Show" will still start with a monologue tied to the day's news, and he'll still have familiar segments like Jaywalking and weird headlines. But -- in lieu of the interviews that occupy most of "Tonight" and other late shows -- Leno will spend a lot of time highlighting taped pieces by younger comics such as D.L. Hughley, Liz Feldman and Mikey Day. It's an impresario-like function that Leno believes TV used to perform in the 1960s and '70s.
"I hope we can make some stars in this," Leno said. "I hope people become famous and get offered shows. If they replaced me with a guy we discovered, I mean, that would be great."
Early taped segments will include Feldman trying to teach seniors how to use Twitter and Hughley coming up with off-the-wall ideas to help rescue California from its financial woes.
"This is a way to use young comics in a new way," Leno said. "They essentially go out and they shoot the stand-up piece they're talking about."
Viewers may notice less Jay in another way too: The 59-year-old host says he's kept off about 10 pounds he lost this summer. He said he'd even finished off a two-mile run before heading over to the NBC lot to meet reporters.

Céline Dion Pregnant with Embryo Frozen for Eight Years
Rosenwaks, director of the Ronald O. Perelman and Claudia Cohen Center for Reproductive Medicine at New York-Presbyerian Hospital/Weill Cornell Center Medical Center, implanted a embryo that had been kept frozen in liquid nitrogen for the past eight years. "She is very, very early in her pregnancy," says her doc.
Dion had her embryos frozen when she went through IVF while trying to conceive her first child, René-Charles, who was born in 2001. When she completed her performance run in Las Vegas in 2007, she consulted Rosenwaks about trying again. "She came back to have the embryos transferred back because she wanted to have another baby," he says.
According to the fertility specialist, freezing an embryo for eight years is not necessarily a problem. "There have been embryos that have been [frozen] for more than 10 years, and even more than 15 years, that have successfully thawed and resulted in a pregnancy," says Rosenwaks.
Meanwhile, the doctor says, "She is feeling well. So far, so good. I look forward to hearing the fetal heartbeat. René and Céline are both looking forward to pregnancy that is a healthy one." He adds, "There is no question she is ecstatic."

Britney Spears Does Top 10 List on Letterman
And the No. 1 reason to read this story ... Britney Spears in a bikini!
The pop star stripped down to a little black bathing suit and tucked a red hibiscus in her hair to deliver the Top 10 list Tuesday night in her return to The Late Show with David Letterman.
In her first appearance since a cameo three years ago, Spears struck one sexy pose after another, crossing and uncrossing her legs, in the pre-taped segment in which she counted down the way things would be different if she were president.
"Three words: Vice President Diddy," she proclaimed, according to audience members. Also on the list: "Free pies for everybody!" and "Costume changes during press conferences."
And the top item on the list: "The media would pay attention to me."
Spears, 27, recently finished the European leg of her Circus tour and begins another string of concerts in America on Aug. 20.
