Patrick Swayze dead at 57

Patrick Swayze lost his 20-month battle with pancreatic cancer and died on Monday at the age of 57. The star of such hits as Dirty Dancing and Ghost was diagnosed in January 2008. His publicist told The Associated Press that the actor died with family at his side.Patrick's last acting project was the A&E series The Beast, in which he played an undercover FBI agent.In an interview with Barbara Walters, the actor spoke of his illness. “I keep my heart and my soul and my spirit open to miracles,” he said. But he also believed in living his life, and not wasting time pursuing experimental treatments. If he were to “spend so much time chasing staying alive,” Patrick said, he wouldn’t be able to enjoy the time he had left. “I want to live."Patrick is survived by his wife, Lisa Niemi, whom he met when they were teenage students at his mom’s dance studio. They were married 34 years.
